Li Ge

PhD student, Structural Engineering

Li Ge is currently a doctoral candidate in Structural Engineering at UC San Diego, where he also received his MS. Before coming to UC San Diego, he received his BS in Hydraulic Engineering from Tsinghua University, Beijing, China. His research interests include computational mechanics, scientific visualization, image-based modeling as well as human computer interaction. His research efforts are aimed at improving the iteration process between structure design and analysis by applying a new methodology named Integrative Simulation-Based Structural Design. In his recent project, he designed and implemented an Integrative Simulation Environment that integrates sketch-based modeling user interface, augmented reality viewer and Finite Element simulation engine into a web-based platform, which enables the user to create, analyze and explore conceptual structure models more easily and intuitively.
