Perry Naughton

Ph.D. student

Perry Naughton chose to complete a BS in Electrical Engineering at UCSD to experience an optimal combination of engineering achievement, environmental awareness and aquatic recreation. Through his involvement with CISA3’s own undergraduate program, the Engineers for Exploration, he became excited about the advancement of cultural heritage research through the development of new engineering practices.

Naughton’s appreciation for the ocean persuaded him to focus his research on aquatic environments. Currently he is adapting computer vision techniques to perform better underwater and developing technologies to enable accurate and affordable underwater localization. These contributions will help many scientific communities access, collect, organize and maintain cultural data that is found in underwater environments.
